Simple escapes like these are important to cherish, but can be so easily missed, especially with the distraction of electronics that often keep us from being present. This summer we challenge you to a day away from your screens…a day of disconnect in order to reconnect with yourself and those you care about in Middlesex County. Whether you’re personally trying to cut back on screen-time, looking to get the kids outdoors, or looking to challenge yourself, were setting you up for success with our full day itinerary, which lists a few of our favourite activities, each ranging in category, and no electronic devices required!

While Middlesex County is home to municipalities that range in size and attractions, each boasts a thriving sports community and shares a commitment to cherishing current and future recreational opportunities. Throughout the past two years, Middlesex County and the majority of the world have been forced to pause several recreational opportunities; leaving children, adults, and supporting members with a missing piece in their weekly routine. Recreation, beyond its contributions to developing strong social bonds, civic engagement and community health, also directly affects the tourism industry and overall economy. Within its role, local parks and recreational facilities attract tourists and residents to the area, generating an increase in population and property value while attracting new business developments to the area, and therefore an increase in economic activity and opportunity. Amongst the growing benefits recreation provides, and as our local municipalities have resumed recreational activities this year, we decided to take a closer look at its direct effect on one of our local municipalities and what residents can look forward to!

Middlesex County’s Department of Economic Development and Tourism is pleased to announce that it received a prestigious award from the Economic Developers Association of Canada (EDAC) for its marketing efforts in 2021.

Lush recreational trails, adventure-filled experiences, savoury local flavours and unique accommodations are waiting to reignite your senses and fill you with wonder in your own backyard. That’s the message of the new commercial being released by Middlesex County’s Department of Economic Development this week. “Middlesex County has an abundance of unique destinations for our residents and visitors to discover; and we invite them to consider the possibilities to safely explore what is just outside their doors," said Cara Finn, Director of Economic Development and Tourism.

Middlesex County Economic Development is very pleased to announce that it received a coveted first place at the Economic Developers Council of Ontario Conference earlier this month. The awards ceremony, which honours best practice economic development efforts from across the province, took place virtually on Thursday, February 11th.
