Take a journey back in time—10,000 years to be exact! Join Gallery Guide Tom Chase for a fascinating 45-minute presentation on the Highgate Mastodon, a remarkable glimpse into prehistoric life discovered right here in our community.  https://glencoehistoricalsociety.ca/event/mastodon/.  Go here for the link and join the call prior to 2:00 p.m.

This event is inspired by the mastodon tooth we have in The Archives collection (Glencoe) that was discovered by a farmer on a farm in north Mosa Township back in the 1930s.  It is a great story!

This engaging talk will explore the story of the mastodon, its Ice Age habitat, and what it teaches us about the ancient landscapes and peoples of Southern Ontario.

Tom Chase has been with the Heritage Center since 2015, working in education, security, and visitor services. A former professional photographer, Tom brings a unique visual flair and deep curiosity to every presentation.
